You have to do something.

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. 

Matthew 5:16

In order for your light to shine and cause men to glorify the father in heaven your good works have to be seen. That means you have to do something. There must be some works. Christians should be seen actively helping others in some capacity. Period.
